1. What is the difference between cremation and aquamation?

  • Cremation uses flame and high heat to reduce a pet's body to cremains.

  • Aquamation (also called alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation) uses a gentle water-based process that mimics natural decomposition. It’s considered more eco-friendly.

2. Is aquamation safe and legal?

Yes, aquamation is approved for use in many states and countries and is considered an environmentally friendly alternative to flame cremation.

3. How long does the process take?

You will receive your pets ashes and keepsakes back in approximately 7-10 days for Cremation and 2-3 weeks for Aquamation.

4. Will I get my pet’s ashes back?

If you choose private | individual cremation or aquamation, you’ll receive your pet’s cremains. Communal | mass options mean cremains are not returned.

5. How are the ashes returned to me?

Cremains are returned in a basic urn, unless you choose an upgraded urn or keepsakes.

6. How much does it cost?

Costs vary by pet size, service type (cremation vs. aquamation | private vs. communal), and chosen upgrades. We do offer various discounts.

7. Can I witness the cremation?

You may witness your pet's cremation as an upgraded package. Not available for aquamation. If you purchase witness cremation we will work to make an appointment for you to go to the contracted crematory for this process.

8. Do you pick up my pet or do I bring them to you?

L.E.A.S.H. will come to you for the gentle retrieval of your pet from your home or vet clinic. You can also arrange to bring your pet directly to the facility once available.

9. Is aquamation really more eco-friendly?

Yes. Aquamation uses less energy, emits no harmful greenhouse gases, and leaves behind a sterile, nutrient-rich water byproduct.

10. What happens to the ashes from communal services?

They are respectfully disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

11. What can I do with the ashes?

You can keep them in an urn or choose from a wide variety of keepsakes such as jewelry, garden stones, or framed paw prints.

12. Can I get a paw print or fur clipping?

Yes, L.E.A.S.H. offers various keepsake upgrades like ink or clay paw prints and fur clippings.

13. What makes L.E.A.S.H. different from pet crematories?

L.E.A.S.H. Pet Cremation is a local pet Funeral Home / Mortuary.
